About Elijah

Growing up from the outskirts of London, to the countryside of Ireland, and eventually to the Northern Beaches of Sydney, I’ve had the privilege of seeing a wide variety of lifestyles and atmospheres. As a filmmaker, one of my main priorities is to capture what each version of life can offer. Everyone’s story is different, and they all have immense value in being told. So I revel in collaborating with people to explore what their own personal version of life is, and highlighting all of their unique virtues to put on film.

While creative collaboration is one of the blessings of my job, I also take pride in wearing many hats. Through my work as a Freelance Video Editor and Videographer, I’m able to use a wide variety of skills to tell stories; and in my own passion projects I enjoy expressing myself in every way that the medium of film has to offer.

The necessity of creative expression

From my earliest memories, all I wanted to do was express myself through art. If I was left alone I would either be drawing fake movie posters, filming my action figures with my parents Fujifilm camera, or becoming inspired by consuming all the art I could get my hands on. Throughout this process, I found that out of all of the mediums, film was the one which assembled all of the perfect pieces, and became the most accurate way of displaying what my internal world is like.

I try to maintain this attitude towards creativity as an adult. Not to treat filmmaking as a job, but as an act of self care and expression. The act of creativity has an immense capacity for catharsis, and if we’re brave enough to let our art be seen by others, we may be surprised at how relatable our stories are.
